How to create a TARUMPTY TUM TUM Japanese master origami designe

This model is by the japanese master of simple prigami designe. Takekawa , if blanced on one end, with the heavier side upwards, i twill turn a full somersault when tipped over. You can play an origami game by showing friends how the model tips, then asking them to try for themselves. The trick is to place the model with its lighter end upwards : it won’t somersault from that position and only the most observant poeple will guess why.


1- Start with a square of paper. Fold it in had hom top to bettom, then unfold.

2- Fold the upper side to the centre, crease and unfold.

3- Fold the lower side to the centre, and turn it in place.

4- Fold in two comers to line up along the coloured raw edge.

5- Repeat with the two original corners, folding to the crease.

6-Fold the top and bottom sections in half. Hold the corners in place so they don’t pop out as you fold.

7- The heavier side, with extra layers of paper, is markedhere. Fold the side ends to meet in the centre. You’re folding on hidden layers and will be able to feel where the paper naturally folds.

8- Open out these two flaps so they are at right angles to the central section.

9- The finished model, ready to somersault.
